What is Lorbeer Robotics?
Lorbeer Middle School Robotics consists of two STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Art Math) elective courses and two competitive FIRST LEGO League teams. The program is designed to provide an extension of the elementary robotics program introduced to Cluster IV elementary students during 6th grade. We also strive to encourage all participating students to explore future STEM opportunities as they move on to Diamond Ranch High School.
Beginning Robotics (Year 1) introduces students to the Engineering Design Process and challenges them to design and program basic robots to complete various tasks and solve different problems. Students learn how to write simple algorithms and use sensors to create robots that behave autonomously and consistently. Students will learn and apply basic mechanical principles such as simple machines and gears.
Advanced Robotics (Year 2) expands on the concepts of Year 1 and challenges students to create more ambitious projects using more complex designs and algorithms.

FIRST LEGO League
FIRST LEGO League is a global robotics competition that challenges teams of up to ten students (grades 4 - 8) to design, build, and program a LEGO EV3 robot, as well as research and develop a technology based solution to a real world challenge or problem.
